Just a couple days ago, I mentioned how for months I’ve been wanting to stop by Sézane after stalking their flower filled windows for months on Instagram. Sézane wasn’t the only floral spot in NYC I’ve been dying to get over to. Ever since seeing the mural Surface of Beauty created for Yumi Kim, I knew I had to get over there. If my brand was a mural, this would probably be it. When this beauty of a little white dress got to me for NYFW, I knew that mural was exactly where these photos had to be shot.
If NYC is over 90 degrees after Labor Day, I’m still wearing white. For day 2 of New York Fashion Week, I definitely embraced the edgy girly glam look. The moto jacket gives this sweet little frock a contrasting edge, that I was honestly never expecting to wear. Despite the sparkle in my shoes, this shoot was anything but glamorous. I’m actually sitting on trash cans, and next to them were empty pizza boxes and bags of trash. That’s New York for ya. Anything to get the shot.
You know a location is meant to be when my favorite pair of shoes and favorite handbag both match the flowers perfectly. Before moving to New York, I would’ve never thought to pair either of these ultra feminine accessories with the edgier jacket, but after wearing this look, it just feels like they go hand in hand. If there’s anything that I’ve learned about style since moving to the city just over a year ago, it’s that good style is all about balance. I think I’m still finding the balance between my tried and true feminine style and my sleek New York style {which doesn’t make the blog all that often}, but this outfit was a step in the right direction.
I’m honestly wishing this dress came in a color other than white. The fit and flare silhouette, ruffle skirt, and high neck make it not only flattering, but a cute number to wear for a wedding or date night. As much as I’m up for breaking the white after Labor Day rule, white can only be worn for so long, and as temperatures start to drop, I’m starting to lean away from it. *le sigh* This dress will definitely be making a reappearance in the spring for something. Event TBD, but really, who needs an excuse to wear a good dress?
