One of my favorite aspects of living in NYC is that I never know what my day will entail -unexpected city exploring, last minute dinners, and spontaneous parties are just a few places that I’ve found myself at with short notice! As fun as it is, it can leave me in a bit of a beauty bind. Getting last minute hair and makeup appointments in NYC can be expensive and difficult. That’s where CVS’ new beauty stores come in!
CVS recently turned their 49th St and Broadway location into an expanded beauty department store, complete with GSQ by Glamsquad services. GSQ by Glamsquad offers affordable, same-day hair styling, makeup application, and even Studex ear piercing. I stopped by to get my hair styled into big, glamorous curls, and it was truly one of the best beauty experiences I’ve had in New York. My stylist, Emily, was bubbly, outgoing, and personable. She had me laughing through the whole service! It felt like having your best friend as your hairstylist, if your best friend had some serious hair skills! The service was quick and efficient, perfect for the on-the-go New York Girl.
CVS’ new beauty stores also feature indie brands, in addition to your drugstore favorites! I love shopping K-Beauty and indie beauty but have purchased the wrong shade or color for me because I’m unable to shop the brand in-person and try it out for myself. These new stores have samples out for you to try, eliminating the need to wait for shipping {or buying the wrong shade!}, and carry indie beauty favorites such as Karity, Peach & Lily, Storybook Cosmetics, and Peripera.
One of my favorite parts of partnering with CVS? Anyone following me on Instagram knows how important transparency is to me when it comes to edited images. Last year, CVS vowed not to retouch any of their beauty marketing or media, a huge step forward in the beauty industry! Images that have not been retouched in store are marked with their “beauty mark,” while images that have been retouched by brand partners are clearly labeled as “digitally altered.” I applaud CVS for helping to eliminate the need to compare ourselves to unrealistic and altered standards of beauty.
