Craft Preppy- Sharpie Jewelry Tray

November 26, 2014

This is one of the quickest, easiest, cutest DIY’s you will ever do.  Not kidding.  I originally saw this DIY on Good & Messy but I of course, changed it up a little bit.  You can see the original project here.

I’ll be trying to do more DIY’s from now through December for gift ideas!  If you have something specific you want me to try, let me know in the comments!

Supplies
Small ceramic bowl, plate, or dipping bowl- I got mine from Target.  It’s Threshold and it was only $1.99!  I would link to it but it isn’t available online.  To get inexpensive ceramic dishes be sure to check thrift stores, they always have tons!
Oil or water based Sharpies- I haven’t tried the oil based but I hear that they allow you to put the finished project in the dishwasher!

Directions

1) Draw whatever you want on the dish.  The nice part about the Sharpies is that if you don’t like what you drew it wipes right off!  I used a small square dish so it could be used as a little jewelry tray, I think things like this are really cute!

2) Cure the marker by putting it in the oven at  350 degrees for 30 minutes.  The marker will no longer rub off!

If you use traditional Sharpies DO NOT PUT THE FINISHED PROJECT IN THE DISHWASHER.  This will cause all of the Sharpie to wash off.  I hear that if you use oil based Sharpies you can put the finished project in the dishwasher, however I have never tried it myself.  The traditional Sharpies can still be washed, just no dishwasher.

This is a super cute and inexpensive gift, especially with the holidays coming up!  I just gave one of these to my friend as a belated birthday gift and she loved it!

Love and Stay Preppy,
Eva
