Five Activewear Essentials to Make Any Workout Cute

January 9, 2018

If there’s one thing that could motivate me to do nearly anything, it’s cute clothing. I used to avoid going to the gym like it was my Calculus final test, but when I invested in some cute {and comfortable} activewear, I found myself going so much more often so I would get the chance to wear it {it’s all for the Snap story, am I right?}.

1. Lululemon Define Jacket

I can’t live without this jacket. Seriously. I own four of them for a reason! This jacket absolutely hugs your body and is so soft and stretchy, allowing you to move or bend in any way possible! Plus, there’s mesh in the back underneath the top panel for ventilation, making it breathable and also helps avoid you getting any sweat marks. I probably wear this equally to workout and just to lounge around or go out — it’s really THAT comfortable.

2. Lucy Moto Leggings

Although I typically go for the more synthetic-feeling silky fabrics from brands like Lululemon when I’m buying leggings, I just knew I had to try on these leggings when I saw them in-store. I’m an absolute sucker for any leggings with side pockets, and this pair of leggings easily has the deepest side pockets I’ve ever seen on a pair of leggings {I’m pretty sure these pocket have more space than some of my handbags. Really}. I’ve had my phone in them, my wallet, my ID holder and lanyard, you name it. They are cotton, but they are really soft and the fact that they’re high-waisted is a huge plus. There’s also a little bit of mesh on the bottom of the legs, which makes them breathable and adds a little extra something. I personally love the full length {I have them in both black and purple}, but they also come in a cropped version here! Lucy is closing their doors shortly, so be sure to get them while you can!

3. Eva Active Signature Set

Maybe I’m biased, but the leggings from the Eva Active signature set are one of my favorite pairs of leggings in my closet. The bralette is cute, but I would recommend it more for when you’re going for the athleisure look vs. actually working out. The leggings, however, are stretchy {4-way stretch fabric all the way 🙌🏻} and absolutely adorable with the tie wrap detail on the leg! They’re currently available RTW in Aquamarine here, but you can also put in a request for a custom color or print.

4. Victoria’s Secret Sport Bras

When I was dancing, I used to have this horrible recurring back injury. On one of my many visits to my physical therapist, she warned me about one thing that would make it infinitely worse. “Lululemon sport bras,” she said. Shocked by how one of my favorite activewear brands could make my injury worse, she explained what she had dubbed the “Lululemon syndrome.” As it so happens, the spot on your body that a Lululemon sports bra is supposed to hit on is actually a really dangerous spot for anything to be banded around your body, thus causing parts of your back to be easily thrown out of alignment. Sure enough, I stopped wearing my Lululemon sport bras as frequently in favor of Victoria’s Secret, and found that the VS ones were SO much more comfortable!

5. S’well Bottle

If you’ve read my S’well Bottle review, you know that I am in love with these bottles! Yes, originally I was hesitant to invest more than maybe $15 in a water bottle, but if there’s one thing I need at the gym it’s cold water, and my S’wells have been known to do that for over 24 hours! With all of the fashion-relevant different colors, prints, and textures S’well offers, it would be difficult not to find one that matches your outfit! 😉

Below I’ve linked some of my activewear essentials, + I’ve curated some fantastic activewear and athleisure outfits that will make going to the gym sound *almost* better than staying in bed!

Haha thanks Austen! I didn’t think I did either, but now that I have one {or three} I don’t want to buy any other type of bottle!
