Truth We All Think and Never Say on Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2018

Whether you’re in a couple or staying single this Valentine’s Day, the honest truth is that this holiday is never just all hearts and flowers. When you drop the façade, these are the honest truths that we’re all thinking and never say on the romance-filled holiday:

In a Couple

1. “Did he get me something?”

2. “Wait, what do I get him?”

3. “How do I seem like I care about Valentine’s Day without seeming like I care too much about Valentine’s Day?”

4. “Wait, shouldn’t every day be Valentine’s Day? Love and romance and gestures of kindness is only for one day of the year?”

5. “Wait no, Valentine’s Day every day would be exhausting.”

6. “Does he like Valentine’s Day? Do I like Valentine’s Day? Wait, do either of us actually like it?”

7. “I want to dress up and go out but also, I really like my pajamas and Netflix. What do I dooooooOOOOOOooooo”

Singles

1. “@the girl in the cubicle next to me who just had surprise flowers show up: we get it. You’re in love.”

2. Every day until the 14th “I just love love.” On the 14th: “All couples everywhere please keep a five foot radius”

3. “Yes, Sarah, for the third time, the three course meal at Eleven that your boyfriend planned months in advance sounds fab. I’ll be watching three different rom-coms at home with a heart shaped pizza. Domino’s loves me unconditionally.”

4. “Is Build-a-Bear workshop one of those things you can only do as a couple after the age of 12?”

5. “Sparkly shoes? Add to cart.”

6. “You’ve been dating for two weeks and now you’re making grand displays of love for each other?  OooOOOkaaayyy”

7. “WHY. DID. ALL. MY. SINGLE. FRIENDS. DISAPPEAR. TODAY?”

I probably sound like a complete cynic in all of these reactions, but in all honesty, this post was written all in good humor, and I like the idea of having a day to appreciate the people closest to me in life. Plus, you know, hearts and flowers and the color pink are in general just kind of my thing. Hi, I'm Eva! I'm best described as an aspiring Blair Waldorf with a case of the travel bug that can't be cured. I'm a lover of witty words, pink peonies, and slight sarcasm. I aim to empower women to travel the world solo, sharing on-trend, feminine style inspiration along the way. Originally from the Minneapple {Minneapolis, Minnesota}, and now living in the Big Apple, you can probably find me most often on a plane, running down Park Avenue stressed out in 4" heels, or planning my next escape.
