Yesterday may have been the first day of spring, but you wouldn’t know it looking out my window. Snow. Everywhere. As a matter of fact, I woke up yesterday at 7 am to it actually snowing, and it stayed snowing all day until after 10 pm. I’m refusing to accept that it’s nearly April and still freezing, so instead I’m dressing like it’s already May. Despite the chilly weather, it has to get warm at some point, right? Prepare yourself for the moment that day comes {hopefully that’s sooner rather than later} by getting your spring wardrobe essentials now! I’ve rounded up a few key styles your closet should see this spring in hopes of warmer weather!
If there’s one thing to completely embody spring, it’s the sundress. Lightweight, flattering, and undeniably cute, the sundress is what I spend 75% of spring living in. My personal favorites are gingham and florals, but go for both pastel and true colors to reflect the warmer weather.
With winter weather gone, you can put away those heavy sweaters and trade them out for your cute top collection. Seersucker is my best friend during the spring when it comes to tops, but materials like chambray, poplin, and chiffon, all also make for the perfect spring top.
Gone with the cold weather are also the rinse denim washes. Trade out your dark denim for lighter washes for spring, to pair perfectly with your pastels!
White denim is my go-to to pair with anything and everything in the spring. It automatically makes any outfit lighter and just a little more elevated than your typical blue denim. My absolute favorite white jeans are sold here. They’re unbelievably stretchy and comfortable!
I could wear espadrille wedges for days. Actually, I’m pretty sure I have. My two essentials colors in these comfortable yet cute shoes are pink and gold. Pink makes a fantastic pop of color and pairs well with almost any spring color, and the gold makes a fantastic neutral while still standing out!
Straw totes are perfectly appropriate for the warmer weather, and are not only helpful, but versatile! Carry one to a picnic, a walk in the park, as a beach bag, or just for strolling around the city.
There’s three types of shorts you need in your spring wardrobe essentials: pull-on, denim, and polished. A pull-on short with an elastic waist is comfortable and perfect for a casual day. They also are fantastic for wearing to the beach! Denim shorts are casual, easy to pair with anything, and are ideal for going to a concert or festival. A polished short such as a flat front short is easy to dress up for a party or when you need to go somewhere a little more important than the mall, or can just be worn as part of a cute outfit!
Here’s hoping we can all get out of the cold and into the 70 degree and sunny weather sooner rather than later!
xx,
E
