They say the best things in life take time…maybe that’s why I’m five minutes late to everything. Then again, maybe it’s because just as my shirt says, I like arriving “fashionably late” {also known as just late enough that people are already there so my social anxiety doesn’t strangle me}. Growing up in the world of ballet, I was surrounded constantly by tulle tutus and as a result, I had a collection of tulle skirts to wear as well. As I grew up, I started to retire the tulle skirt, but I have to admit that there’s something so fun about strolling down the street wearing something oh-so-princessy. Call it a Carrie Bradshaw moment, but with tulle skirts back in style, I was determined to style one for Paris Fashion Week this season.

The great thing about a neutral tulle skirt, is that the styling options with it are really endless. Pair it with a cute blouse for a more dressed up, feminine look, or take my approach and throw a graphic t-shirt on under it. I personally love the casual tee and tulle skirt look as they somewhat balance each other out. By using two extreme pieces in terms of occasion, it allows you to wear this look at events that may be more casual or events that call for something a little more dressed up.
As the navy and cream are more muted colors, I used my coat to make the outfit pop. Lucky for me, one of my favorite pea coats matched the reddish orange shade of the type on my t-shirt perfectly. The coat I’m wearing is from a few years ago, however this one is really similar and only a small fraction of the price mine was.
I never thought that I’d find so many outfits to wear my prom shoes with. Yet here I am, bringing the shoes from my high school prom with me to Paris and wearing them for Paris Fashion Week. See Mom? I did end up wearing them more than once. All jokes aside, For under $50, they’re a great occasion shoe to have. Or if you’re like me, they’re a great everyday shoe to have, evidently. They do come in multiple colors if navy really isn’t your thing {said no one ever. Kidding. Kind of}. The navy of this pair is a perfect match to the t-shirt, tying the whole outfit together.

The best part about dipping my toe back into the world of tulle skirts? These days, tulle skirts are more affordable than ever. The skirt I’m wearing here is just $16 here. I’m definitely not going to feel guilty if I don’t end up wearing it more than a few times!
